ISO 17799 is the worlds most widely recognised information security standard. It was originally based upon a standard called BS7799, which was published by the British Standards Institute (BSI).The first version of ISO 17799 was published in December 2000 by the International Standards Organization (ISO).
The ISO17799 standard is extremely comprehensive in its coverage of security. It contains a significant number of controls, arranged into ten prime sections.
Compliance with ISO 17799 can of course be a complex undertaking. Certification can be even more so. However, with the correct approach, utilizing quality information security policies, the task can be made more manageable
